Ponni Rice is a popular medium-grain rice variety primarily grown in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
It is well-known for its soft texture, subtle aroma, and slightly sweet taste, making it a staple in South Indian cuisine. The name “Ponni” comes from the Kaveri River (locally called Ponni), along whose banks it is cultivated.
